The standard we build to

This website targets WCAG 2.2 Level AA. That is the level most public bodies and large organisations are held to, and we hold this site to it whether or not anyone requires us to.

What that means in practice

Text you can actually read

Body text is set at 17px minimum and never smaller. Text contrast against its background is at least 4.5 to 1 everywhere, and considerably higher for most of the page. Nothing prevents you from zooming.

Keyboard access throughout

Every link, button, tab, form field, and expandable panel can be reached and operated from the keyboard. Focus is always visible, never removed. The menu and dialogs trap focus while open and give it back when they close.

A skip link

The first thing you reach with the keyboard on any page is a link that jumps past the navigation to the main content.

Motion you can turn off

The site fades and rises content as you scroll. If your device is set to reduce motion, every one of those animations is switched off and content appears immediately. This is honoured site wide, with no exceptions.

Proper structure

One H1 per page, headings in order, real landmarks, real lists, and real buttons. Screen readers get a sensible outline rather than a wall of unlabelled divs.

Forms that explain themselves

Every field has a visible label above it. Placeholder text is never used in place of a label. Errors appear in text next to the field they belong to and are announced, not signalled by colour alone.

One consistent theme

The site is presented in a single light theme rather than following your device's dark mode. That is a deliberate choice: the studio's photography and colour palette are built around daylight, and an inverted version of them reads worse, not better. Every colour combination on the site is checked against the same contrast requirements.

Targets you can hit

Interactive controls are at least 44 by 44 pixels, which matters on a phone and matters more if your hands are not steady.

What we know is not perfect

Two honest caveats.

The booking system

Class booking, membership purchase, and appointment scheduling are provided by WellnessLiving and rendered inside our pages. We style it to match the rest of the site and we have made its container behave, but we do not control its underlying markup, so we cannot guarantee it meets the same standard. If you hit a barrier there, email or call the studio and a person will book you in directly. That route always works.

Ongoing testing

The site is checked with automated tooling and by keyboard on every release. It has not yet been through a formal audit by a third-party accessibility specialist or a full round of assistive technology user testing.

If any part of this site gets in your way, we want to know, and we would rather hear about a small annoyance than have you give up on it.

Email studio@lifestread.com and describe what happened, which page it was on, and what device or assistive technology you were using if you know. We will reply within one business day and tell you what we are going to do about it.

If something is blocking you from booking right now, say so in the message and we will book you in ourselves while we fix the underlying problem.
